A pair of Kestrels were seen on 9-08-08 am. making tallon contact in flight. I guess this was a parent training its youngster how to kill.I watched this for about 5 minutes before the pair moved on. I have not seen this before, let alone on the Ridge.

Nice spot. Also watch out for peregrines in the region. They nest regularly at Golden Valley, Wick. I think they also nest along the Avon Valley, and have seen them flying up the valley along Siston Brook. I once watched a family of four practicing their aerial hunting skills over the Avon not far from The Chequers pub. A buzzard took off nearby, seeking a thermal, and in circling, accidently encroached on the peregrines' airspace. The poor creature was soon sent packing by four gleeful birds.
